A moment with Randy Ross of GOD BLESS CAMBODIA
Why did you choose PortFringe this year?
This was the first fringe I ever did back in 2013 so it holds a special place in my heart! (I’ve since done 22 fringe festivals around the US, Canada, and Edinburgh, Scotland).
How was your show born?
In 2007, I took a four-month, solo trip around the world and had a crappy time. During the trip, I kept a blog which became this show as well as a novel that was published by a small press. (The Permanent Press, published 2017)
What about the world *right now* makes it feel important to be putting this show out into the world?
It is a humorous look at how one-guy comes to grips with loneliness. All the divisiveness in the country right now, means a lot of isolated, lonely people.
How would you describe your show to your mom? How would you describe your show to your crush?
(the same way to both of them — my mother and former girlfriends all have seen the show) A chronically-single takes a trip around the world hoping to change his luck with love. Adult situations, adult language, and more adult situations.
If any famous person could see your show, who would you pick?
Ben Stiller — he would be the perfect person to perform the show.
Have you checked out the other shows happening during PortFringe? Pick one you are excited to see or learn more about and tell us why!
Breakneck Julius Caesar — I’ve seen it before. It’s great!
