Artist: Amaranth Productions
Show: Intimate Letters
Description: A love affair spanning 11 years and over 700 letters between composer Leoš Janáček and his muse Kamila, 38 years his junior, expressed fully for the first time between the marriage of his letters to her and the quartet penned near the end of his life chronicling their tumultuous and inspiring relationship. Janáček promised it to be “beautiful, strange, unrestrained, inspired, a composition beyond all the usual conventions! It’s my first composition which sprang from directly experienced feeling… Intimate Letters was written in fire. Earlier pieces in hot ash.”

Tell us something we might not know about you/your company and your Portfringe show.

Our second violin Meg MacIntyre once won a dance competition at a Mongolian wedding

The first musings on starting the Amarantos Quartet happened at Genos Bar about two years ago (they were quite nearly named Nil By Mouth)

Tarra (created/director) and David (Actor) grew up down the street from one another and were voted ‘most dramatic in their high school yearbook together

David’s wishes he could show everyone some of the blooper reels from rehearsals including such gems as his character voicing all his lines as Petyr Baelish (Game of Thrones) and Gob Bluth of Arrested Development

What are you most looking forward to about PortFringe 2014?

David is most looking forward to being on stage for the first time in years! “It’s been years since I’ve been on a stage in front of an audience, and to be working with a group do virtuoso musicians to boot? It’s more than I could have ever imagined!

Lobster? or Steak. Discuss.
