NOTE: PortFringe will be profiling PF14 Artists and their shows on this blog in the weeks leading up to the festival (June 24-29, 2014). The next snapshot is of Stacey Koloski, a PortFringe volunteer and Samuel Beckett fan.
Artist: Stacey Koloski, with Kristen Peters, Rebecca Washko & Ellen Elizabeth White
Show: Come and Go, by Samuel Beckett
Description: Three similar figures sit quietly on a narrow bench, surrounded by darkness. A Shakespearean tragedy taking place in 120 words and less than 10 minutes.
Tell us something we don’t know about you/your company, and your PortFringe show
The Beckett shorts and ”dramaticules” are like tiny little packages containing enormous gifts inside! Come and Go challenges performers and audience members to find and embrace an understandable full-length narrative within the confines of a beautiful one-page script.
Oh! And the word dramaticule is “a noun that can be defined as a little or insignificant state or situation of events involving interesting conflict of forces. It is rarely used and thus not recorded in most dictionaries.”
What are you most looking forward to about PortFringe 2014?
ALL OF IT – the great moments that remind us of what PortFringe represents, and the challenges that provide important learning opportunities for future festivals. And most of all, meeting the people – artists, volunteers and audience members!
As a PF14 Artist (WEIRD TO SAY THAT!), I am looking forward to celebrating Kristen, Rebecca and Ellen’s beautiful work, and to sharing Come and Go with PortFringe audiences – it’s such a short show, that I can’t imagine ever having an opportunity to present it in a more traditional setting. And we’re thrilled to share the billing with Mark and Ashley (Finyette Productions) and their original piece, “Which Doctor!“ The PortFringe “double tickets” are one my favorite PF aspects!
Lobster, or Steak? Discuss.
Starting right about now I will be subsisting on iced coffee (support PF Sponsor, Coffee By Design!), adrenaline, and positive thinking. There’ll be plenty of time for lobster (and sleep) after June 29!
