Experiments in Connection: You & I
Yuhas & Dancers (Columbia, SC)
“Experiments in Connection: You & I” explores the negotiation of relationships old and new, created with familiar images of compassion and a desire to understand another. The work presents dynamic contemporary dance through series of duets, moving quickly throughout the space and simultaneously drawing in a detailed eye for intimate moments. The four women cast display strength and rigor as the tension, release, and comfort of human connection is created in live performance.
Yuhas & Dancers, from Columbia, SC, is a contemporary dance collective under the direction of Meredith Yuhas. Premiering January 2018 at the Asheville Fringe Festival, winning the “2018 Festival Fan Favorite,” the new dance collective has been described as “diverse racially and in body shape…noted with praise” (The Ashville Tribune). With a commitment to diversity, Yuhas & Dancers seek to explore authentic emotion and raw experience for the audience to experience in an attempt to foster genuine community and connection through dance.
This show is part of an exciting PortFringe “double feature” event, which means you will see two short performances in the same one-hour performance slot. Experiments in Connection: You & I is paired with Gone Fishing.
