A night for hot blood and warm hearts…

-At Lucid Stage-

Day 3 begins at 5:00PM with Dancing with Desire: a Poetic Fandango with the Erotic and the Bawdy by Ann Tracy. A loosely connected series of erotic poems and limericks using works from ancient Sanskrit to modern Latina writers. FYI – Ann Tracy is still looking for some more actors!

At 7:00 we have a local double ticket featuring two new works by impressive young women: 1. Allison Strausberg’s Give Voice: an exploration of what happens when we express our intentions rather than our fears. Through the use of soundscapes and an understanding of experience as embodied, it combines material from the streets of Portland and beyond to challenge the viewer to embrace fear as a path to understanding and compassion.
2. Erin Enberg’s Desert Drinks. “Dear Las Vegas, you stole my favorite sunglasses, my credit card — and my youth?”

At 9:00 White Flag Performance Group presents The Complicity of Breakfast: an ensemble-developed one-man show that examines the blessings and pitfalls of the structures we employ to remain engaged in day-to-day existence. “Breakfast” is theatre of the new millennium, engaging non-linear narrative, heightened physicality, tragicomedy, and intimate, vital storytelling.

And finally, at 11:00 (a theater company called) Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday (a.k.a. the brothers Speckman) presents Sex a.k.a. Wieners and Boobs, by Joe Lo Truglio, Michael Showalter, David Wain. Their props list includes a dildo.

-Meanwhile, at the St. Lawrence Arts Center!-

At 6:00 April Singley presents the world premier of her original Iobair. Weaving themes of love, jealousy, the desire to do right in situations that are seemingly impossible, and the sacrifices of the flesh and heart, Iobair will shock audiences with its raw and dark reality, surprise ending ,and with the occasional E.D. joke thrown in for full measure.

And at 8:00 Snowlion Repertory Company presents the world premiere concert reading of Mesmerized: a new musical. Auditions will be held this Saturday April 28 from 12:00 to 3:00 and Sunday April 29 from 1:00 to 3:00 at the Hutchins School, 24 Mosher Street, South Portland.  All auditioners must CALL for an audition appointment to (207) 518-9305.

Check in tomorrow for Friday’s listings!
