PF14 Artist Snapshot – Cave Dogs presents “Sure-Minded Uncertainties”

NOTE: PortFringe will be profiling PF14 Artists and their shows on this blog in the weeks leading up to the festival (June 24-29, 2014). The next snapshot is of Cave Dogs (of Bloomington, NY). They are presenting at PortFringe for the first time, showcasing their own method of storytelling combining shadow performance and multi-media technology.

Artist: Cave Dogs
Show: Sure-Minded Uncertainties
Description: Sure-minded Uncertainties explores how activism, community, and stewardship of the earth influence and shape our modern world. Using fictionalized realism, the show follows fantastical modern day, fringe-dwelling characters including a scientist, a naturalist, an ancient wise woman, a tailor and a chrysalis as they navigate through a series of short stories. Our performance presents vibrant storytelling; merging ancient traditions, shadow puppet theatre and contemporary art forms – including film, video, sound, and computer-generated animation.

Tell us something we don’t know about you/your company, and your
PortFringe show.

Our company name, Cave Dogs, comes from our first venue. We performed in a cave…well a mine actually….complete with a 20 acre underground lake. We had 3 stages and 600 people that moved with the show. Did we mention it was a really big mine.

What are you most looking forward to about PortFringe 2014?

We look forward to being part of a great cultural event in a vibrant city.

Lobster or Steak? Discuss.

One is a delicious meat that can be prepared in any number of ways. The other is a cow.

We look forward to meeting you in person, Cave Dogs! Welcome to PortFringe!
