For PortFringe 2026, we’ve decided to simplify our venue presence while still embracing our past homes in the Arts District and East Bayside. We’ll be in three dedicated venues this year – two spaces in Portland Stage and the funkiest theatrical and gallery space that Bayside (dare we say Portland?) has to offer. This gives audiences and festival participants alike an easier time of things while still bridging the various worlds of art and performance that PortFringe represents. Vive le Fringe!
About the venues
Portland Stage Company
https://www.portlandstage.org/
About the Venue/Business: Founded in 1974 as the Profile Theater, Portland Stage is one of Maine’s largest fully professional, non-profit theaters. Portland Stage plays a pivotal role in the life of our community by providing the experience of theater for our audience and by making that experience one that enlightens and adds insight into our world.
Note: Two spaces at Portland Stage Company are being used for PortFringe 2025, the Studio Theater (“Portland Stage Studio”) and the Theater for Kids (“Portland Stage TFK”). Both spaces are housed in the venue at 25A Forest Ave. See Portland Stage’s website for more information.
The Apohadion Theater
About the Venue/Business: The Apohadion Theater is one of Portland’s local music homes; since 2017, the team behind Apohadion, alongside a rotating cast of bookers, have cultivated numerous evenings of musical and artistic exploration. The theater is also home to a rotating art gallery.
