Performance 6/26/25 – Portland Stage Studio

Tymisha Harris’ A Cabaret of Legends has everything you could want in a solo show: charisma, comedy, heart, powerhouse vocals, and storytelling that goes straight to the soul.

This isn’t just a cabaret, it’s a love letter. To Tymisha’s idols. To the icons who shaped her. To the legacy of strong Black women who have always led the way with grace and fire. It’s part protest, part celebration, part personal journey. A tribute and an awakening all at once.

There were a few tech hiccups, but Tymisha handled them like a pro, gracefully and with humor. Honestly, I loved the back-and-forth between her and the tech booth. It added a rawness, an urgency, a sense that we were in something live and real together. And that’s what this show feels like: an invitation into Tymisha’s living room, her memory, her heart.

From Nina Simone to Tina Turner to Beyoncé’s Lemonade, A Cabaret of Legends is rich with soul and sound and legacy. It deserves a packed house and a crowd that sings along and gets to their feet. It deserves a live band. It deserves everything.

Beautiful. Soulful. Captivating. Tymisha Harris is the real legend here and I was honored to witness it.

IT’S A MUSICAL. …But Tymisha Harris’s A Cabaret of Legends is not just her up on stage just singing, no, she is telling us of all the legends who wrote these songs [including] powerful people such as: Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Josephine Baker, Diana Ross, Patti LaBelle, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston and Beyoncé. A pretty solid line up that I would happily go see again. OH, … the costumes, there are multiple costumes and costume variations … the first one similar to what you’d expect [from] a jazz club songbird … covered in sequins and sparkles (I’m a sucker for sequins), with a cape-esque cloak that had bracelets connected to it [like] a flashy batman (which is dope). Then … she reveals more of the dress, …followed by a complete change to … Tina Turner. This show is Flashy, Funny, Educational, and a Hell of a Good Time. So please go see a show about Black Women and hear some amazing vocals (Ranging from jazz to rock) and please enjoy A Cabaret Of Legends.
