g e e l is an original devised interactive (allowing a two-way flow of information between a performer and an audience and audience members with each other; each individual responding to the moments in real time), one-woman show written, produced and performed by René Goddess Johnson. The action unfolds through thoughtful storytelling as her “tribe,” the audience, experiences a new kind of theater that includes powerful dance and song in multiple languages, including English and Afrikaans, while learning the beginning tools of embodied equity play, a daily conversation for self-activism.
