Performance 6/21/25 – The Apohadion Theater
I Like You presents two sharply contrasting yet thematically linked pieces. The first is a modern reimagining of a scene from Macbeth — the iconic moment when Macbeth and Lady Macbeth plot the murder of King Duncan. Set in the cutthroat world of corporate ambition, this adaptation leans into the sexual tension and psychological manipulation between the characters. The language is clever and layered, offering treats for both seasoned Shakespeare fans and newcomers alike.
The second is a one-man performance based, from my understanding, on a dream one of the creators had. While the concept was eerie and had me genuinely shaken (there was even a well-placed jump scare!), it became a bit static as most of the action took place over a phone conversation. That said, the writing was compelling enough to hold my attention throughout, and the performance was emotionally resonant.
