This show was a surprise. It skillfully reminds us that an improv presentation doesn’t always have to be wacky and off-the-wall. It can also be powerful and dramatic, especially when delivered by skillful actors such as Krista Simonis and Eric Darrow Worthley. Of course, this being an improv show, you will most likely not see what I saw and some shows may be off-the-wall and outrageous. But I really admire how Krista and Eric took this technique to a another level and made it feel as if we were watching an intense acting class exercise. A definite recommend for one or repeated viewings.

Christa and Eric of Fresnel Theater, the Deep Improv duo, offer up solid improvised fare in a 20 minute show based solely on audience suggestions. Tonight’s two scene, two speech story started with a coffee shop confrontation that quickly led to intrigue about stolen papers and possible insurance fraud. The performers are confident and skilled, so who knows what they’ll cook up the rest of the week, but if you appreciate the art of playing in the moment, catch the show.
